I first gave blood in high school. It was worth the needle because I got to miss class all morning and chillout with my friends in the school hall drinking sodas.
Well a while later, they brought us bloood donor cards and I finally found out my blood group. O+ Thanks for asking.
Didnt think much about it until the time my elder sister was going in for surgery(hmmm about Nov 2009) and I needed to give blood. I confidently marched there yadda yadda haemoglobin tests then apparently I could not give blood. I was so shocked. Especially as a 'not so petite' person, you'd think I'd have enough blood or whatever.
So it turns out that I needed to have more iron and such as well as go back for testing which I've never done. I'm just a tad bit lazy about it. Oh I didnt change my diet to have more iron-fortified foods.. I mean think of Spinach then look at a burger. Nekesa The Blood-donor knows exactly what I'm talking about.
I take supplements when I remember..but hey thats about it. Happy Blood Donating =)
